Like a long distance relationship, absence is already making the heart grow fonder.
I'll miss sitting outside the wine shop in a Tuk Tuk waiting for Mikey to negotiate buying beer for 200lkr. I'll miss the tinkling sounds of the Tune Pan - especially the ones playing Santa Claus is coming to town (nothing to do with the festive season but it was as close as we got to pre-Christmas build up. I'll miss the cows wandering laboriously in the centre of the main roads. I'll miss the free bananas given often to our children (and the sweets, biscuits, spicy deep fried snacks). I'll miss the roti and Dahl curry (although I suspect we will see this again). I'll miss the amused look on the taxi driver's face when you ask if there's a working seat belt. I'll miss the smiles from anyone who you happen to smile at. But we will see it all again someday as we will no doubt be back. Thank you for a fabulous start to our trip!
